8/1 The Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks should be the area's strongest team next season in Divaz action, as they return most of their roster from a team that made it to the 3A State Final.  It appears the rich keep getting richer as Maggie Melhem has left Easton and is now enrolled at Bethlehem Catholic.

The rising junior provides a versatile forward that can shoot the ball, drive to the hoop or score inside.  She'll be a welcome addition on a team with Kalista Walters, Janelle Robinson, Danielle Griffin, Nia Mims and Jordynn Jones.  Melhem averaged 9.5 points per game last season at Easton and was named honorable mention all Lehigh Valley Conference.  She made an appearance for Bethelehem Catholic in the Forks Summer League.  She had been playing with the Red Rovers as recently as the Sportsfest Tournament at the end of July.  Look for the Golden Hawks to make another deep run this upcoming season.

Wagner's mother has sold her Harleysville home and has been relocated to the Lehigh Valley for employment.  Brendan states, "This has been very difficult.  I have spent my entire life there, now i am leaving for my last year.  However, this is a great opportunity to play with a fantastic program.  I've gone from sorrow to pure excitement!  I think i can be a big piece to this team because of my defensive presence and grabbing a lot of rebounds."

1/8  2013 6'4 guard Xavier Romero has returned from a torn ACL injury.  The Lincoln Leadership scorer will bring a big boost as Romero averaged 17 points per game last season and should help them for their playoff push.  Xavier has been itching for the opportunity, " It was really tough watching my team play without me in the summer knowing i would have made a difference, but i'm back now and ready to play.  Im about 75%.  I just need to play more games to get my legs back but i'll be good."  Unfortunately as one star arrives, another is in limbo.  Guard Deiontia Robertson is currently not playing for Lincoln Leadership.

Coach Baker is a District 11 Legend; he played his high school basketball, at Stroudsburg High School. Baker also played at Rider University before finishing his career at East Stroudsburg University.  This is a major loss for the Mountain Valley Conference, but the man stepping right into Baker's position, is Dr. Shawn Munford. Munford was a longtime assistant basketball coach under Jeff Wilson, at East Stroudsburg University. The brand new head coach is currently a tenured professor at ESU, and former all PSAC basketball player at Bloomsburg University. The East Stroudsburg South basketball program will continue to move in the right direction under its new leader. LVBR is Always Watching...
